Thanks Aunt Julie and Michelle!

The face says it all. Julie, Thor and Michelle bought Jack this awesome Big Wheel for his birthday. It took a little while to get here, but it was well-worth the wait. Jack became an expert at it in no time and now he zips back and forth on the path in front of our house all the time. Wheeee!

P.S. If you are so inclined, keep reading because we did a lot of catch-up posts today! Love to everyone.

Home Sweet Home

Here are more pictures of the new place. I make fun of it a lot. It's really not that different from our other place. It has the same cottage cheese ceilings, beige carpet and the same cheapo linoleum in the bathroom. It's not luxurious, by any means, but for some reason it feels really right for us. Many other units have come available in our complex since we moved in and we never even really considered any of them, but this one is located right next to Julie's place and the first time I saw it was open, I just kept staring at it. I mentioned it to Patrick and he laughed - I think the last thing either of us wanted to do was move again, but then he walked by it and he had kind of the same feeling that I did. There's just something about this one that feels like our place. We don't really know why, but there it is.
I couldn't really capture the patio for some reason, but it's one of our favorite parts about the new place. It makes everything feel open and light. Eventually, once Patrick works his magic out there, I have a feeling we'll be out there a lot over the Spring and Summer.

Another one of our favorite things about our place is how close it is to Julie and Amy & Jamie. Hi guys! (That's Julie's door through our kitchen window and Amy's patio right beyond it.)

Mostly, I think we just like the light and the airy feeling that this place has. We haven't taken any pictures of the upstairs yet, we're still trying to get everything in the bedrooms together, but we're equally smitten with those rooms, too. It's kind of embarrassing, really. We're kind of having a love affair with our new apartment.

Happy 2nd Birthday Felix!!!

We are woefully behind on our posts, but here are some pictures we took at the perfect birthday party Amy and Jamie threw a few weeks back for our sweet nephew Felix.

This looks like very serious cake preparations to me.

A sweet moment between Patrick and Jack.

And another one between Finn and Felix, awwww! It was a love fest.

Let them eat cake!

Train time!

Congratulations to Jane and Elliot who recently got engaged!

Cutie pies!

More cuteness! I know I can't stand it, either. I have to end this post now. Too many exclamation points flying around, but happy, happy birthday little sweet pea! We love you so.

Birthday!!!

Happy 64th birthday to Bill Kreutzmann!!!! The Grateful Dead had two drummers for most of their history, and Mickey Hart is probably the better known of the two because of his more flamboyant personality, as well as his significant film work (he did most of the music for Apocalypse Now).

But those in the know would claim that Kreutzmann was really the heart of the Dead's wonderful rhythm, and he is a talented jazz and world music player as well. Nothing against Mickey Hart, who added a great deal of color to the Dead's sound, but personally, my favorite period of the Dead's thirty year run was the period in the early 70's when Mickey left the band for personal reasons, and it was just Kreutzmann keeping the beat.

When he's on his own, you can hear just how incredible his playing really is, and I think that he's one of the most underrated of the 60's era rock drummers.
But I would think that : )

Happy birthday Billy!!!

Flyer!!!

Oh man, I had to post this picture of our flyer that our drummer Joel made for the band!!! I hope we play as well as the flyer looks : )

Move!!!

Sorry it's been a while folks, but we've spent nearly all of the last week moving to a new place!! Since we just relocated to another apartment in the same building, it's not quite as exciting as it might be, but we're still really happy with our new pad!
Even though we only moved about 100 yards, it still seemed like a tough move! Maybe it was because we underestimated it, but I came out of the with a strained foot muscle, and various cuts and bruises. Also our Internet and phones were down for about a week and a half, and there's still a ton of stuff to put away!
In other words, we feel incredibly blessed and thankful to be in a wonderful new place! We had a great Easter (pictures later), and are so happy to be even closer to my sister and Julie's places!
Peace & love to everyone.
